Is Lucasfilm Planning to Release Only One Live-Action Show Per Year Starting in 2025?

The Star Wars franchise, created by George Lucas, remains a cornerstone of modern science fiction. What began as an ambitious space opera has evolved into one of the most successful and beloved franchises in history. Over the decades, Star Wars has captured the imaginations of countless fans and continues to be celebrated as one of the greatest fictional universes ever conceived.

However, despite its status as a science fiction icon, the franchise has faced criticism, particularly since Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm. While some post-Disney productions, like Andor and The Mandalorian, have been well-received, others, including many of the sequel films and The Acolyte, have not achieved the same level of success.

Given the recent shifts within both Disney and Lucasfilm, the Star Wars franchise is expected to move forward, but at a more measured pace than initially planned. Reports from reliable insiders suggest that both companies are currently reassessing their future strategies.

The rumor we’re discussing comes from DanielRPK, a respected industry insider known for his accurate scoops. While it’s important to remember that this is still just a rumor and should be taken with a grain of salt, here’s what it claims:

I’m hearing that several series are in development, but it seems they plan to release only one live-action series per year starting in 2025.

This update doesn’t contradict earlier reports. As mentioned before, the Star Wars franchise is continuing with new projects following the conclusion of The Acolyte. Although fans had hoped for a second season, The Acolyte was canceled. However, several new TV projects are in the pipeline. Additionally, while there are many rumors about upcoming movies, Disney and Lucasfilm have officially confirmed that only three films will be released between 2026 and 2027.

For the movies, Lucasfilm appears to have a relatively fixed schedule. However, the situation with TV shows is more fluid. Andor and Ahsoka will both receive second seasons, and while the rumor suggests that additional shows are in development, it also indicates that Lucasfilm may slow down and release only one live-action show per year.

This strategy might be beneficial, but we’ll need to wait to see if the rumor proves accurate. Stay tuned for updates!
