Lucasfilm is reportedly working on a live-action project set in the Knights of the Old Republic era, according to industry insider Daniel Richtman. This timeline takes place about 4,000 years before the rise of the Galactic Empire and became a fan favorite after the 2003 video game introduced its rich story.
In 2019, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed they were exploring ideas related to Knights of the Old Republic, saying, “Yes, we are developing something to look at,” though she didn’t share any details.
Recent rumors suggest that work on this project started before the recent industry strikes and is expected to continue now that the strikes have ended, aligning with Richtman’s report.
It’s still unclear if this project will be a movie or a Disney+ series, though Richtman’s rumor suggests a series is more likely. In the past, writer Laeta Kalogridis was reportedly working on a script, but it’s unknown if she’s still involved.
The Knights of the Old Republic era is a fan favorite for its deep storytelling and complex characters. The game follows Revan and Malak, two Jedi who fall to the dark side, sparking major events in the Star Wars universe. Fans have been eager to see this story adapted into live-action for years.
While Lucasfilm hasn’t confirmed details about this project, ongoing discussions and rumors show that the Old Republic era might finally make its way to the screen. For now, we’ll have to wait for official updates, but Richtman’s report gives fans hope.
