Christopher Nolan is bringing Homer’s The Odyssey to life in a new epic fantasy-action film. Starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, the movie follows his dangerous journey home after the Trojan War, facing monsters, gods, and legendary challenges.

With a massive $250 million budget, it is Nolan’s most expensive film yet. The star-studded cast includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron. Filming is taking place in Morocco, Italy, Greece, and the UK, and the movie is set to release on July 17, 2026.

Not much is known about the movie so far, taking into account Nolan’s secret process of filmmaking but we can always rely on insiders to bring us the freshest rumors and set leaks. The latest rumor claims that Lupita Nyong’o might play two important roles in the movie. She could play both Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra. Helen of Troy is known as the most beautiful woman in the world in Greek mythology.

She was married to King Menelaus of Sparta, but she left with Prince Paris of Troy, which led to the Trojan War. People called her the “face that launched a thousand ships” because her actions caused the Greek army to sail to Troy and fight for ten years.

Clytemnestra is Helen’s sister and the queen of Mycenae. She was married to King Agamemnon, who led the Greek army in the Trojan War.

However, she hated him because he sacrificed their daughter before the war. When Agamemnon returned home, Clytemnestra took revenge and killed him.

If these rumors are true, Lupita Nyong’o will have a big challenge playing both of these powerful and complex women in the same movie.

Previously Nyong’o was reported to play the goddess Athena which caused quite an uproar among fans due to blackwashing of Greek culture, legacy and mythology.
