Malia Baker from ‘Descendants: The Rise of Red’ Expresses Interest in Joining the ‘Star Wars’ Universe

Remember Disney’s Descendants series? These live-action movies introduce familiar Disney animated characters in a fresh universe, while also focusing on their descendants. Despite not being actively promoted by Disney, the series remains popular, with the upcoming fourth installment, Descendants: The Rise of Red, set to premiere on Disney+ on July 12, 2024, and on Disney Channel on August 9, 2024.

Recently, our colleagues at the ‘Agents of Fandom’ portal, particularly TJ Zwarych, sat down with the lead stars of the movie, Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker. During the interview, they shared insights about their characters and also discussed their personal aspirations.

In the movie, Malia Baker takes on the role of Chloe Charming, daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming. While discussing Chloe, she also shared her aspirations for the future. Based on our conversation, it seems Malia Baker has her sights set on potentially joining the Star Wars universe down the line!

There are a growing number of people who have played roles throughout different, uh… Disney properties, like Marvel, like Star Wars, most notably Ming-Na Wen. She’s Mulan, Disney princess, and then she also went into the Marvel Universe, Star Wars universe… Are either of you fans of those universes, and would you kind of want to follow along in that path as well?

I will plant the seed right now (…) I love Star Wars. I met… we met Amandla Stenberg recently at this Disney Upfront and I was geeked out, ‘cuz… I was like, ‘Girl, you got to do it. You did it.’ And she was incredible. The Acolyte was… I’m excited to see it, so now that one, and Marvel too…
