One of the best parts of ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was undoubtedly Manny Jacinto’s Qimir. Qimir is the latest Sith in the franchise and has already gathered quite a few fans on social media, in fact, Qimir is one of the reasons why fans have been calling for season 2 of the show, as they want to see his journey continue.

Qimir has already revealed what he wants on the show. The Sith is looking for the Power Of Two, the twins Osha and Mae, presumably to make himself more powerful and to get his revenge.

Now in his most recent interview with the New York Times, Manny Jacinto gave us some insights into Qimir’s character and his true desires. The actor states that Qimir wants freedom and wants to live life on his own terms. This is something that Headland also described to great lengths even before the show aired, the Jedi don’t have the monopoly on the force, and who is to say really what is the right way to use the Force.

In any case, Jacinto found it really easy to identify with Qimir, mostly due to his experience as Asian-American, and all the struggles related to his ethnicity that he went through:

It’s always come down to this feeling of being an outsider, being in a place that doesn’t accept you. I think that’s the reason it really resonated with Leslye and me. Leslye being a female, gay showrunner in this industry and me being an Asian American male in this industry, we’ve constantly had to fight for our position and we’ve constantly had to prove ourselves . So, I think it really is just a parallel to that type of feeling of wanting to be accepted and wanting to be able to really express oneself.
