Marvel Studios has numerous projects in development, covering both popular and lesser-known characters from the comics, even though Feige and Brad Winderbaum said the studio would slow down to 2-3 movies and 2-2.5 live-action shows a year.

One confirmed project, ‘Nova,’ has been in the works for years. It was originally planned as a series, then changed to a movie, and now it seems it’s back to being a series again.

More than half a year ago, the head of Marvel Television department confirmed that there are plans to develop the ‘Nova’ live-action series. However, his announcement came with a silver lining as the exec stated that just beacuse something is in early development, according to new rules within the studio, this doesn’t mean that it’s going to see the light of day.

Winderbaum recently appeared on the Phase Hero podcast and gave fans one extremely positive update. It appears that the show is out of the “early development” phase and progressing quite nicely.

It’s in development, you know, like we talked about at D23, we’re developing more than we make so it is kind of brewing in the pot. But there’s a lot to be excited about. What I’ve seen so far is extremely promising. I’ll say that.

Especially like tonally. The vibe of that show is very unique and very cool.

As you can see, the show is still not quite 100 % confirmed to be in release, but at least we know that it wasn’t shelved at this point.

Some recent rumors indicated that the show will (if it ever gets made) likely focus on Sam Alexander’s Nova rather than Richard Rider. Those same rumors also indicated that the show will enter production next year.
