‘Invincible Iron Man’ series recently wrapped up after 20 issues finishing a long storyline that involved X-Men, but it didn’t take long to announce a new series that picks up after the events of ‘Invincible Iron Man.’

Marvel has announced that Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Spencer Ackerman and artist Julius Ohta will launch a new Iron Man series. ‘Iron Man #1,’ debuting in October, marks Ackerman’s Marvel debut. The series continues from ‘Invincible Iron Man #20’ with Tony Stark regaining control of Stark Unlimited. Stark faces threats from Roxxon and A.I.M., leading him to create a new ‘Improvised Iron Man’ armor, unique in his 60-year history. Additionally, a new Iron Monger is set to appear.

Fans will watch Tony Stark continuously upgrade his armor to counter various threats. The series Iron Monger will come with mysteriously-powered armor. Roxxon and A.I.M. will join forces against Stark Unlimited, but they face a much angrier Tony Stark, ready for war, one that has sworn he will never hit rock bottom again.

Ackerman himself commented on the upcoming series:

Winning a Pulitzer is cool and all, but it’s not writing for Marvel Comics, and to write IRON MAN is a very specific dream come true. A lot of comics’ best creators have used Iron Man to tell big stories about security and freedom—with a whole lot of super hero action, of course—and I can’t wait to build on their legacy.

‘Invincible Iron Man #20’ leaves off with Tony Stark resolving issues like Feilong’s imprisonment and his marriage to Emma Frost. On the final pages, Tony, with James “Rhodey” Rhodes, heads to a Stark Industries hangar in Los Angeles, hinting at the revival of the West Coast Avengers.

Emma Frost’s psychic insider trading provided Tony with billions, allowing him to purchase an airstrip. While nothing is officially announced, Tony’s internal dialogue confirms the West Coast Avengers’ return, as he and War Machine head off to stop a falling rocket.
