Marvel Confirms ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ Is the End of Multiverse Saga & Here’s What Probably Comes Next

MCU is currently in the middle of Phase 5 of Multiverse Saga. The current phase and the phase before it were marked by mediocre projects and multiversal themes that the fans only partially accepted.

The studio is slowly building up toward the grand finale, the likes of what we’ve seen during ‘Endgame’ which served as the finale of Infinity Saga.

We still haven’t had the pleasure of seeing our main villain on-screen, Doctor Doom, as Kang the Conqueror was being built up as the main villain of Multiversal part of the MCU. This however doesn’t mean that the overall timeline of the MCU has changed.

Screenrant recently talked to Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation and he confirmed that ‘Secret Wars’ is still the ending of Multiverse Saga:

I think that’s [what] Secret Wars is going to be an amazing culmination to the saga. I think it’s going to make the journey feel like it was a worthwhile.

And making the journey feel worthwhile presents quite the challenge at this point since according to some fans it will be impossible to top ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame.’ But there’s still a way to raise the stakes even higher – by cleaning the slate completely.

More than a year ago, industry insiders claimed that ‘Secret Wars’ would serve as a reboot to the MCU, if you’re familiar with the original comic story you will likely realize why that makes perfect sense.

In any case, only X-Men and Fantastic Four would remain in the MCU with Avengers slowly being replaced. The next saga of the MCU would presumably be the mutant saga. Feige already hinted that this is the case with the release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’ Feige said that the mutant era in the MCU begins with the release of that movie and that its impact on the MCU as a whole is massive.

As you know, nothing all that relevant happened in the movie actually, and it’s possible Feige was just trying to hype up the movie for fans, but if mutants are to be the carriers of the next Saga, then he was correct.

X-Men and Fantastic Four are still not present in the MCU but their reboot projects are on the way. Fantastic Four is currently being filmed at Pinewood Studios in London slated for release on July 25, 2025. The movie will also be the first film of the Phase Six.

While the X-Men reboot is still in the developmental stage, we know that Michael Lesslie is currently working on a script.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ will serve as the grand finale, two movies being released a year apart just like ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame.’ What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
