MCU adapted over 50 villains from the pages of comics at this point. Some have been disappointments like Dar-Benn, and some were brilliantly executed like the last year’s High Evolutionary.

In today’s post, however, we won’t talk about the character development of villains or how brilliant their plans were. We’re going to discuss their raw might, as not all villains are created equal. Fans gathered on Ranker, more than 7,000 of them, to rank MCU’s evil powerhouses. Let’s see who made the cut.

10. Ronan the Accuser (2050 Votes)

Ronan Captain Marvel

Yes, yes, Ronan was defeated through a dance-off but this doesn’t negate the fact that Ronan was at one point one of the most powerful Kree. Most of his power came from Universal Weapon, and later, from Power Stone, so technically, he wouldn’t make the top 10 cut as far as I’m concerned. Still, fans have spoken!

9. Ebony Maw (2295 Votes)

ebony maw

When compared to other members of the Black Order, Ebony Maw never had any fantastical physical abilities. The prime reason why Thanos kept him around was his calculating mind, intelligence, and the fact that he never disappointed him. Where his physical abilities lacked, Ebony Maw had incredible telekinesis to compensate for it. Sadly, Maw fell victim to his own hubris, being sucked into the void of the Universe as he ranted about how he could kill Strange instantly.

8. Loki (2381 Votes)

loki season 3 update

Loki is no longer a villain and he is no longer a mere nuisance to Thor. Although he was one of the most powerful magic users in MCU, the current variant of Loki is God of Stories in everything but the name. I definitely don’t agree with this ranking.

7. Ultron (2429 Votes)

ultron age of ultron

MCU Ultron is weaker than his comic counterpart, but he is still one of the most dangerous foes that the Avengers ever faced. Ultron is both a physical and technological powerhouse, and in some advanced nations, or against weapons that rely primarily on technology to function, Ultron is basically omnipotent.

6. He Who Remains (2522 Votes)

He Who Remains

He Who Remains was introduced in ‘Loki’ season 1, and although he never showcased magical or strength feats, he has something far more powerful – control over time.

He Who Remains ranked so high since under his word and by his will countless realities and lives were extinguished “for the greater good.” Come to think of it, this guy might have a bigger body count than Thanos.

5. Ego (2557 Votes)

ego

There are countless fan theories online about how Ego is actually not a Celestial, but as far as MCU canon stands he is. As Celestial, Ego has the ability to manipulate reality, making him omnipotent in a way, still, he did have a weakness, a convenient weakness which Guardians of the Galaxy used to destroy him.

4. Surtur (3040 Votes)

surtur

Surtur draws his power from the Eternal Flame, a mystical and powerful artifact that grants him near-limitless strength and energy. Even Odin struggled to defeat him at his best. Surtur proved that he is one of the most powerful entities in the MCU when he managed to destroy Asgard, himself, and Hela.

3. Hela (3258 Votes)

hela

And speaking of…Hela definitely deserves to be in the top 3 of most powerful villains, why? Beacuse she is technically impossible to get rid of, being the goddess of death and everything. Odin struggled to contain her, Thor failed to contain her, and it took Ragnarok to get rid of her.

2. Thanos (3432 Votes)

Josh Brolin Hints at Thanos Returning to the MCU

Ah, now the controversial part of this list begins. In number two we have MCU Thanos who is not as powerful as his comic counterpart but still has the Infinity Stones that allow him limitless power. He has plenty of strength feats, and he at one point channeled incredible amounts of power through himself. Still, this did not grant him the number one spot on this list, despite Avengers having to break time to finally get him. Who did Thanos lose the title to? Well…

1. Dormammu (3902 Votes)

doctor strange dormammu faceoff

I mean I get it Dormammu is the ruler of his own dimension, but that’s pretty much it, he has unlimited power only within the Dark dimension. Strange struggled to defeat him but eventually used the Time Stone to trap him within the Time Loop until Dormammu begged to be freed. Talk about shameful exile from Earth. I definitely do not agree with this ranking.
