Marvel Head of TV Compares ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ to ‘Game of Thrones’: “All these forces vying for control”

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is one of the most exciting upcoming projects. The show will see the return of Charlie Cox back to his Daredevil role alongside much of the former cast of Netflix’s ‘Daredevil.’

So far, not much is known about the plot of the show. We know that D’Onofrio’s Kingpin will return, this time as Mayor of New York, something teased in ‘Echo’ post-credit scenes.

Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen and Elden Henson’s Foggy are also set to make a comeback alongside Jon Bernthal’s Punisher. We know that Mayor Kingpin will go to war against vigilantes and street-level superheroes alike. There’s also that looming threat of villain Muse, who Daredevil will eventually have to face.

Now Brad Winderbaum Marvel Studios’ Head of Television made some interesting statements regarding the show. Apparently, the show is more similar to ‘Game of Thrones’ than we’ve anticipated.

Winderbaum spoke on ABC’s On The Red Carpet Storytellers Spotlight stage at D23 and explained what kind of tone we can expect from the show.

Imagine if New York City was as intricate and problematic and scary as the world of ‘Game of Thrones.’ All these forces vying for control, and it can be really hopeful at times, and really violent at times, and dark-but also there’s light at the end of the tunnel if you could just fight for it.

It’s pretty easy to imagine the scenario that Winderbaum is talking about. Kingpin loves power and hates street-level heroes, as Mayor he has the unique opportunity to put an end to threats to his criminal empire.

Daredevil, as an influential attorney, has the means to stop him on several fronts. In the past, the showrunners and cast of the show teased a lot of violent action, so not all battles will be led “around the table.”
