Marvel Reportedly Considering Bryan Cranston for Professor X, and We Think It’s a Genius Move!

The Mutants are on their way to the MCU! Yes, we know this isn’t breaking news, as it’s been anticipated ever since Disney acquired Fox. While a few Mutants have already made appearances in the MCU, the X-Men themselves have yet to debut, and although it may take some time, we’ve been promised a big reveal in the future.

There have been rumors suggesting that Hugh Jackman might continue to play Wolverine in the MCU, but other casting speculations have been scarce. For a while, there was talk of Giancarlo Esposito taking on the role of Professor X, but with his recent casting in a different MCU role, that now seems unlikely.

However, a new and intriguing rumor has surfaced online, hinting at a potential casting choice for Professor X in the MCU. While it’s still unconfirmed, we’re incredibly excited by the possibility and can’t wait to share the details with you below!

The rumor that inspired this report is actually a tweet that recently appeared. As said, this is not sourced and could be completely made up, so take it with a grain of salt, but allow us to explain what we think about it:

The tweet in question doesn’t provide much detail, but it certainly sparks a lot of possibilities. With Professor X yet to be cast in the MCU and few actors capable of stepping into the shoes of James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart as the leader of the X-Men, the options are limited. However, we believe Bryan Cranston would be an excellent choice if Marvel opts for an older version of the character.

Why? The Oscar-nominated actor has shown he can handle a wide range of roles. After his portrayal of Malcolm’s dad in Malcolm in the Middle, Cranston shattered typecasting with his iconic role as Walter White in Breaking Bad (and in some episodes of Better Call Saul), earning him acclaim as one of the best actors of his generation. Since then, he has demonstrated his versatility in various roles, making him a strong candidate for Professor X.

Cranston embodies the wisdom, determination, and fatherly presence essential for portraying Professor X, and he visually resembles the iconic X-Men character. We think he would excel in the role.

Of course, this is merely a theory based on an unconfirmed rumor, but we’re hopeful that something will come of it and that we might see Bryan Cranston take on the role. What about you? Would you like to see him as Professor X, or do you have another favorite in mind? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
