With every new year come reports of the ‘World War Hulk’ movie being in development. The rumors have been circling for years now with seemingly no end in sight.

Recently, Ruffalo confirmed that the studio never planned to give him a solo movie, due to the complicated rights to the movie, mostly due to the decade-old tug-of-war with Universal.

Now during his Discord AMA, Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez has stated that the studio is slowly preparing the ‘World War Hulk’ storyline, but not in a way that fans expected. Once again I have to stress that this makes sense if Hulk can’t get a solo project, that story needs to involve numerous characters and several projects.

According to Alex Perez, the studio has been setting up the so-called “World War” storyline. This storyline has been established through various projects, including ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home,’ ‘WandaVision,’ ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ ‘Black Widow,’ ‘Eternals,’ ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ ‘Ms. Marvel,’ ‘She-Hulk: Attorney At Law,’ ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ and ‘Secret Invasion.’

This storyline, which has been brewing in the background, revolves around the world’s apprehension over the increasing number of superheroes since the events of ‘Endgame.’ With no active Avengers, nations are racing to develop their own superhuman soldiers or teams for defense against various threats.

Examples of this tension include France’s covert attempt to obtain vibranium from Wakanda, the United States’ clandestine efforts, and the Department of Damage Control handling superhuman incidents. This story will climax in projects like ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ where countries pursue their superhuman agendas, leading to the creation of Hulks by governments worldwide.

Marvel Studios is laying the groundwork for a World War Hulk storyline, where Bruce Banner faces his worst fears as governments create their own Hulks. This conflict could bring about the return of the Savage Hulk, culminating in a showdown between Banner and President Ross as the Red Hulk.

I have to say that this premise sounds extremely intriguing, and what Perez is saying certainly sounds true based on all the arguments he listed.

Ruffalo confirmed that he would appear in ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ only to rescind his statements an hour later claiming that he was mistaken. If you take a look at the lineup of ‘Brave New World’ you will notice that all villains set to appear are Hulk villains, with the exception of Esposito’s currently unknown villain, but based on everything we know, he might as well turn out to be Hulk villain as well.
