Brazil’s D23 is behind us and luckily we’ve got plenty of updates on the upcoming MCU projects including one special new look at ‘Thunderbolts*’ and a brand new teaser trailer for ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’
The release slate for 2024/2025 is clear, but what’s going to happen beyond that? We can look forward to two major ‘Avengers’ releases, and fans have been hoping that stories of some of the fan-favorite characters will also continue.
Cinepop had the opportunity to chat with Marvel Television executive Brad Winderbaum following the D23 panel and got the opportunity to ask him about some frequently mentioned potential projects.
First on the schedule was a potential continuation of Agatha’s journey. As you are likely aware, ‘Agatha All Along’ recently finished its run with raving reviews and solid viewership so we’re hoping to see more of that side of the MCU.
Jac Schaeffer has an incredible imagination and she had a vision for this show and for these characters that really was unique and allowed Kathryn Hahn to embody this character so significantly.
I feel like, as an actress she is going to forever be bonded to act the Harkness
The interviewer mentioned the fact that Marvel Studios did not apply ‘Agatha All Along’ as a miniseries but rather as a comedy series for the awards season, which led plenty of us to speculate that the show might get a second season. Here’s what Winderbaum had to say about it:
I think that we all want to see more adventures in Westview. That poor town, I mean, can they catch a break? Between WandaVision and Agatha, come on…
Winderbaum also praised Locke’s performance in the show before commenting on which Defender he would like to see getting a new season in the MCU. Winderbaum’s answer was clear: Jessica Jones.
Oh, wow. I mean, Jessica Jones.
Winderbaum also briefly commented on the reduced MCU output in terms of TV series saying that it’s going to be variable, on some years fans can expect 2 or 2 and a half shows, while sometimes, only one show will be released. This is due to the new and longer development process that ensures that only good products are released.
The exec was asked about the chances of delivering ‘Loki’ season 3:
There’s always a chance.
Which of these shows would you like to see the most? ‘Jessica Jones,’ ‘Agatha All Along’ season 2 or ‘Loki’ season 3? Let us know in the comments below!
