‘Marvel Zombies’ is certainly one of the most exciting upcoming shows. The series has so far spent a lot of time in development, but occasionally we do get some news related to it, especially in recent times when Marvel Studios is slowly shifting toward animation in greater capacity.

At this year’s Marvel Animation D23 panel, they showed some footage from the new show that got people excited.

The showrunners, Andrews and Winderbaum, shared a scene where the last survivors in San Francisco, including Shang-Chi and Katy, are saved by agents from the Ten Rings. Wenwu steps in to help, but when Shang-Chi gets bitten by zombies, Wenwu sacrifices himself to stop the infection from spreading.

Five years later, Shang-Chi is leading a group through a desert, kind of like in “The Road Warrior.” But their trip is interrupted by Skrulls trying to steal their cattle. Shang-Chi and his team, which might include Jimmy Woo, are ready to fight.

This hints that Shang-Chi will be one of the main characters in the show, along with Kamala Khan, who was mentioned earlier.

Now the latest news related to the show hints that it’s supposed to release on Disney+ in October 2025. The new artwork showcases some previously unseen members of the team about to fight zombies.

The series will feature alternate versions of several characters from the MCU, including Yelena Belova, Katy, Kate Bishop, Red Guardian, Jimmy Woo, Death Dealer, Shang-Chi, and Wenwu.

The series will also include zombie versions of several characters, such as Hawkeye, Steve Rogers, Abomination, Ava Starr, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Ikaris, and Okoye.

On more than one occasion it’s been confirmed that the show will be rated TV-MA, with Brad Winderbaum teasing that it’s going to be especially brutal. The show will be 4 episodes long and it’s being described as an “event” rather than a mini-series.
