Marvel’s ‘Imperial’ Comic Series Will Change the Galactic Order

A major shake-up is coming to the Marvel Universe this summer with ‘Imperial’, a four-issue event series written by Jonathan Hickman and featuring artwork by Federico Vicentini and Iban Coello. This cosmic epic will reshape Marvel’s galactic order, introducing new power struggles, wars, and mysteries in space.

Hickman, known for his groundbreaking work on Fantastic Four, Avengers, X-Men, and the new Ultimate Universe, is taking on Marvel’s cosmic side in a huge way. ‘Imperial’ will explore what happens when several of the galaxy’s most powerful leaders are eliminated, leaving a power vacuum that sparks war and intrigue across space.

The series will feature major developments for iconic Marvel cosmic characters, including Hulks, Black Panthers, Novas, Guardians, and Cosmic Kings and Queens. The events in ‘Imperial’ will lay the foundation for a new era of space stories, making it one of the most important comics of the year.

“I‘m very excited about this project as I’m obviously a huge fan of all things Marvel Cosmic,” Hickman shared. “The goal here is to kind of do what we did with the recent Ultimate line for all of our space titles, except having the setup book (‘Imperial’) be more of an event than a world-building exercise (like ‘Ultimate Invasion’). The art team is killing it, and we’re all just very excited for what’s happening in this special corner of the Marvel Universe.”

The art team for ‘Imperial’ consists of Federico Vicentini (known for Miles Morales: Spider-Man) and Iban Coello (who worked on Venom War). Both artists are part of Marvel’s Stormbreakers, an elite group of top talent.

In addition to drawing the comic, Vicentini and Coello are designing new characters, locations, and costumes, making this story a visually stunning and fresh experience for readers.

Vicentini expressed his excitement about the project, saying:

“Working with Hickman is a great challenge. I love his scripts. He writes really brilliant dialogue and puts incredible attention to details when it comes to the story’s setting.”

Coello also shared his enthusiasm:

“Being involved in this project is incredible. Creating all these new characters and costumes is really fun. Working with Hickman is something I never expected to be able to do, and it’s both cool and intimidating at the same time because of the magnitude of what he’s doing in the scripts. I look forward to being able to rise to the challenge and do a great job!”
