In July 2018, a script for a film about Marvel Comics character Riri Williams/Ironheart, written by Jada Rodriguez, made it onto The Black List, but the movie never came to fruition. In December 2020, Marvel Studios announced they were developing an ‘Ironheart’ series for Disney+.

Now, three years after Riri’s debut, it seems the wait is nearly over, as the series is set to release in 2025.

Not much is known about the show except for what audiences could see via an exclusive trailer shown at D23.

The footage opened with a scene from ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ where Dominique Thorne debuts as Riri Williams. The story then shifts to Riri’s life post-internship abroad, where she feels “stuck.” Before she was expelled from MIT, Riri said she wanted to build something undeniable.

She also encounters Parker Robbins, aka The Hood (portrayed by Anthony Ramos), who tempts her with the notion that achieving greatness often involves making morally questionable choices, asking her if she’s “in or out.”

The story of the show was described as a mix of magic and technology, and all vendettas coming to life.

Dominique Thorne stars as Riri Williams/Ironheart, an MIT student and genius inventor who creates a suit rivaling Iron Man’s. Anthony Ramos plays Parker Robbins/The Hood, a complex ally of Riri who uses dark arts and magic.

The cast also includes Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy, Lyric Ross as Riri’s best friend Natalie, and Anji White as Riri’s mother. Other notable actors like Shea Couleé, Jim Rash (reprising his role as the Dean of MIT), and Sacha Baron Cohen appear in undisclosed roles.

Now we have little go on as far as official news goes, but a leaker profile on X Marvel Updates, which has a somewhat mixed track score recently brought some new information to light.

According to the leaker, ‘Ironheart’ will have the same overall tone as MCU’s hit show ‘Ms. Marvel.’ The show will confirm that Riri Williams is bisexual. The first screenings for the show were allegedly positive and episodes will last around 50 minutes on average.

There’s really not much to add to these rumors considering that they can’t be confirmed until the show actually releases, but as far as the tone and Riri’s sexuality go, it seems probable, especially in light of the release of ‘Agatha All Along’ where emphasis was put on queer representation in the MCU.

Now when it comes to test screenings, we can’t confirm or deny that, but considering that the show spent a lot of time in development, it’s quite possible that it was polished to the max.
