Max Excludes One of the Most Popular DC Animated Shows from December 2024 Release Schedule

‘Harley Quinn’ is an adult animated TV series based on the DC Comics character. It follows Harley Quinn and her best friend and romantic interest, Poison Ivy after Harley leaves her boyfriend, the Joker.

The show premiered on November 29, 2019, and was created by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey. The first two seasons aired on DC Universe, and the show later moved to HBO Max for season 3 and Max for season 4. A holiday special aired in February 2023, and in November 2023, the series was renewed for a fifth season.

Dean Lorey, the co-creator of ‘Harley Quinn,’ said in July that the next season would likely premiere in the last few months of 2024. The official ‘Harley Quinn’ account on X also mentioned the show would be “back in November.”

However, as November ends and December approaches, no premiere date for season 5 has been announced, suggesting the release has been delayed.

Max released its official schedule for December but left out ‘Harley Quinn’ Season 5, which may mean it won’t premiere in 2024 as originally planned. However, the omission doesn’t completely rule out a December release, as Max mentioned the schedule could change.

The delay could be due to various reasons, including negative reactions to ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ and Gaga’s Harley Quinn.

However, according to some recent findings, the show might have simply moved its release date to January. In a recent Reddit AMA, showrunner Dean Lorey said he thinks ‘Harley Quinn’ Season 5 will be released in January 2025.
