MCU Concept Art Reveals Hemsworth’s ‘Love and Thunder’ Suit Fans Never Got to See That Was Much Better than What We’ve Got

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ frequently makes it to the list of most hated MCU movies. The film suffered from an uneven tone, blending comedy with serious themes in a way that didn’t always work.
Fans felt that the humor that worked for the character in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ was overdone and overused in ‘Love and Thunder’ bordering on cringy.
Storytelling and character development were not the only criticized aspects, however. ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ continued the vibrant and colorful visual style established in ‘Thor: Ragnarok,’ but overdone it. The movie featured bold colors, neon lighting, and a retro, 1980s-inspired aesthetic that was meant to evoke a sense of fun, once again contrasting with more serious themes. This “Technicolor lunacy,” was praised by some and hated by others.
Now, through the concept art for the movie we recently found out that Thor almost had a completely different suit with a more serious color palette reminiscent of “Viking armors.” If, of course, your definition of Viking armor is something pulled straight from RPG. Concept artist Aleksi Briclot revealed via his Instagram account what he aimed to achieve with this specific suit.
The character design for Thor in the movie focused on creating a more “casual” outfit for Chris Hemsworth’s likeness, moving away from the epic and colorful armor. The design aimed to incorporate “zen vibes” and reflect Thor’s evolution by transitioning from the black armor he wore in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ to a lighter, white look, representing a new phase in his journey. The design also drew inspiration from the scaled torso of Captain America’s suit.
Fans pointed out that this version of Thor’s suit looks much better than what we got:
