We can never have enough Spider-Man movies, right? Since the live-action Spider-Man franchise started with Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire in 2002, we have watched seven live-action movies and one animated Spider-Man movie. Next month we’re finally getting the long-awaited sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and now there’s a rumor that claims when we’ll watch the next live-action Spider-Man movie.

Tom Holland debuted as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War in 2016. He reprised the role in Avengers: Infinity War in 2018 and Avengers: Endgame in 2019, in addition to his own Spider-Man trilogy, which was concluded in December 2021 with Spider-Man: No Way Home, which featured a return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as their respective Spider-Men from previous live-action movies.

The potential release date for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4

Even though it was the last movie on Tom Holland’s initial contract, it’s known that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have been developing the fourth Spider-Man movie set in the MCU for quite a while now. And now, according to RPK, the two studios are eyeing August 28, 2025, as the potential release date for the fourth, officially untitled Spider-Man movie.

Considering we’re already set to get Fantastic Four, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Superman: Legacy, and The Batman — Part II in 2025, we’re honestly scared to think what a wild year that will be for the fans of the superhero genre.

Four Spider-Man Movies Are Now Streaming on Disney+, With One More on the Way

Spider-Man is one of the most popular superheroes ever created, so it’s no wonder he had a solo movie even before the superhero genre blossomed. The first movie, directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire, was released in 2002, followed by two sequels in 2004 and 2007.

The plans to continue Maguire’s franchise were scrapped after Raimi abandoned the development of Spider-Man 4, and the franchise was rebooted with The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield and directed by Marc Webb. The movie was successful enough to get a sequel in 2014, but the sequel received a lukewarm response, so Sony Pictures decided to bring the next Spider-Man into Disney’s MCU, which was upping the game with its popularity at the time.

It’s been seven years since Tom Holland debuted as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War. His first contract covered six movies, which included three Spider-Man movies and three crossover appearances in other MCU projects.

While some rumors claim Holland signed a new contract for one more Spider-Man trilogy, we only know for sure that Spider-Man 4 is in development, and it’s also unknown if we can expect to see him in the upcoming movies Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: The Secret Wars.
