It’s been a few days now that the news has hit the Star Wars fandom that ‘The Acolyte’ will not get a second season. The show was plagued with controversy even before its release and many fans and critics alike noted its obvious lack of quality in pretty much all aspects.

If you’ve been following the viewership numbers, you are likely not surprised by this news as the show has been losing viewers week after week.

Still, the show did have a few episodes that somewhat redeemed it, but those episodes unfortunately came too late. One of the best aspects of the show was Manny Jacinto’s Qimir, a newly established Sith Lord in the franchise that was seemingly related to Darth Plagueis.

Now the news that the show won’t be proceeding with a second season hit some fans of the show pretty badly. The hashtag #SaveTheAcolyte started trending and a petition was started on Change.org to plead with Disney will give another chance to the show. While we wait for the results of this social movements we can see that some other major stars gave their support to Manny Jacinto – most notably Simu Liu, an actor in recent times most famously known as MCU’s Shang-Chi.

Simu took to X to offer his support to Jacinto, praising him as a breath of fresh air in the franchise and complimenting his physique:

Simu Liu and Manny Jacinto are currently the hottest Asian actors on the scene and their careers followed a similar path. Both actors gained popularity through beloved, critically acclaimed sitcoms before transitioning to starring roles in action-oriented franchises owned by Disney. While Jacinto’s future in the Star Wars franchise is under question currently, it’s been rumored in recent times that ‘Shang-Chi 2’ is in development with even the actor giving us some hopeful updates.
