Mephisto’s existence in the MCU was confirmed back in 2012’s ‘Avengers,’ but his true taste came in ‘Agatha All Along’ in which the villain was name-dropped and explicitly mentioned.

Now we know that the cinematic universe has plans for the villain. Mephisto is supposed to have a smaller role in the upcoming ‘Ironheart’ show, and the character is reportedly played by Sacha Baron Cohen. The character however has been reportedly connected to various projects through theories ranging from ‘Doomsday’ to and planned ‘Wonder Man’ show.

In fact, the rabbit hole might be so deep that Mephisto could be considered the true villain of the Multiverse Saga connected to Incursions and Doctor Doom, pulling all the strings behind the scenes.

Mephisto, as a ruler of his own dimension, is one of the most powerful beings in Marvel Comics. His hellish realm is not connected to the mainline universe but he just can’t stay away from “mortal affairs” and seeks every opportunity to sow chaos.

The biggest connection that Mephisto might have with the upcoming Multiversal projects are Multiversal Masters of Evil. The team has been rumored to appear in ‘Doomsday’ perhaps replacing Council of Kangs, which was teased in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.’

The story of Multiversal Masters of Evil really begins with Doom Supreme, who achieved pretty much everything he could in his current timeline. He achieved the status of Sorcerer Supreme and Necromancer Supreme, dominating his reality in the most brutal ways imaginable.

Until he got bored. However, the next frontier he could conquer presented itself soon after when Doom Supreme set out to travel to the past and kill the prehistoric Avengers. Still, the task proved to be more difficult than he anticipated, so he recruited various villainous variants from different timelines.

Doom Supreme time-traveled to 1,000,000 BC and met Mephisto, who proposed forming a team of supervillains since prehistoric Avengers proved to be much more difficult to defeat. The proposed team was the Multiversal Masters of Evil.

The deal was to wreck prehistoric Avengers across the Multiverse, saving Earth-616 for last. Despite knowing the shady agenda, Doom Supreme was intrigued and agreed.

Doom embraced the idea and recruited a lineup of Multiversal scum, including Kid Thanos, Dark Phoenix with her Berserkers, King Killmonger, Ghost Goblin (Norman Osborn), and the Black Skull.

It’s quite likely that the MCU won’t adapt this team 1:1 since the story wouldn’t exactly fit the current narrative. However, this doesn’t rule out the possibility that Mephisto approached RDJ’s Doom sometime in his native reality and proposed creating the Multiversal Masters of Evil in order to defeat MCU’s superheroes so that Mephisto could take over the Earth with relative ease.

It’s possible that Mephisto might manipulate Doom until Doom eventually turns on him like in the original story.

There’s also that rumor that the Council of Red might be introduced to the MCU as well. The Council of Red is a group made up of different versions of Mephisto. They came together to rewrite all the universes using the First Firmament. They also supported the Multiversal Masters of Evil in their plans.

Past rumors claimed that ‘Doomsday’ might adapt elements from the ‘Avengers Assemble/Avengers: Forever’ event. This storyline involves a Council of Red, and a team-up of Avengers to prevent the destruction of existence, and it would pretty much lead to the formation of the aforementioned Multiversal Masters of Evil.
