‘Monster Hunter Wilds’ Sold Over 8 Million Copies Worldwide in Three Days

Capcom has unleashed a new gaming behemoth with the release of Monster Hunter Wilds, which has swiftly become the fastest-selling game in the company’s storied history.
Launched on February 28, 2025, the game sold an astounding eight million units within just three days, breaking the previous record held by Monster Hunter World. The game’s overwhelming success was echoed by its critical acclaim, securing a metascore of 90/100 on Metacritic and attracting over 1.3 million concurrent players on Steam alone.
Monster Hunter Wilds has enhanced the beloved series by integrating elements from its predecessors, Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise, while introducing an expansive open-world format.
This new structure allows players to roam a seamless world, engaging in hunts and missions from any location, making the gameplay experience more dynamic and immersive. The game is available on multiple platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, though Capcom has not disclosed specific sales figures for each.
The game’s development leveraged Capcom’s proprietary RE ENGINE, which has enabled stunning visual depictions and a dynamically changing environment that shifts from a severe wilderness to a richly populated natural world. Additionally, the introduction of cross-play has broadened its appeal, allowing players to connect regardless of their gaming platform.
With no similar major releases in the previous quarters, expectations are high that Monster Hunter Wilds will significantly boost Capcom’s revenue and profit for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025.
