Morena Baccarin Did Not Have a Good Experience Being Intimate on Set With Deadpool: “It’s like kissing a giant latex condom”

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is about to hit theaters in less than a month, and fans are excited. Aside from over 20 rumored and confirmed cameos, the movie will also see a return of some of the best characters in the Deadpool franchise, including Vanessa played by Morena Baccarin.

Baccarin’s character initially died in ‘Deadpool 2’ only to be resurrected at the end of the movie when Wade stole a time-traveling device from Cable.

Vanessa and Deadpool are certainly the best couple in Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchise, but sadly their relationship did not stand the test of time. As we’ve learned via trailers and private screenings, Vanessa and Deadpool broke up sometime after the events of ‘Deadpool 2.’ ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ takes place six years after the second installment and Vanessa has a new boyfriend.

This was most likely good news for the actress as she complained over the years that filming intimate scenes with Ryan Reynolds was absolutely horrific, not beacuse of the actor – it was the costume.

Deadpool and Vanessa were intimate several times on-screen, including a sex scene montage in the first film. They celebrated various occasions with themed outfits, covering holidays like Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and International Women’s Day. Baccarin discussed the montage in a 2017 interview with Conan O’Brien.

[The film] was really fun… minus the two days of sex scenes, it was wonderful, the whole experience. […]It took two days to shoot the sex scene, because I think it was us making sweet love for an entire calendar year. So it was all the holidays, you know. So we dressed differently for every one.

A year later for ‘People’ magazine, Baccarin also admitted that kissing Reynolds in the Deadpool costume was horrible. Due to the materials that the costume is made of, it’s just like kissing a giant rubber condom.

I keep saying that kissing him in that mask is like kissing a giant latex condom. It basically just smells like rubber the entire time.

It’s not all bad, however, as the actress also commented that Reynolds was professional the entire time and that he made it bearable. Luckily, there will be no sex scenes or kissing between the two in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’
