‘Wonder Woman‘ movie was Diana Prince’s first standalone movie in DCEU that introduced her as a fierce Amazon warrior destined for great things. Soon enough, she became a great heroine and a symbol of hope and liberation. This is an inspirational movie, among other things, so if you liked it, you can find similar ones that you should watch in this article. Without further ado, here are 12 movies like ‘Wonder Woman’.
1. ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ (2020)
If you liked the first ‘Wonder Woman’ movie, you’d like its sequel, also. Even though the movie was not as successful as the first part, it develops Diana’s character further. The storyline is set almost seven decades later than the first movie, and it follows Diana in new surroundings, working at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC, as a curator.
She never forgot about Steve Trevor and their love; the Dreamstone brings them back together for a while. That stone also creates all sorts of trouble. The movie also provides new details about Diana’s past when she was a child, so the fans can get to know her even more.
2. ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ (2022)
Both Black Panther movies are great in terms of ‘woman power’ and bravery, but this one is even more special than the first because Shuri takes on the mantle of Black Panther.
She is not the only powerful and inspirational Woman in Wakanda, as there is also her mother, Queen Ramonda, whose performance in the movie is great. Okoye, the General of Dora Milaje, was awesome in all the movies she appeared in; this one is no exception. So, if you are searching for a movie where female warriors and leaders are at the center of the plot, you will also like this one.
3. ‘Black Widow’ (2021)
Natasha Romanoff has been one of the most important characters in the MCU characters for many years, and the fans could not wait for her to finally get her standalone movie. In ‘Black Widow,’ Natasha faces her past while labeled as a fugitive.
Like Wonder Woman, Black Widow never backs down from a fight and always stands for what she thinks is right. In a way, the two of them have a lot in common and are both exceptional fighters and leaders.
4. ‘Captain Marvel’ (2019)
MCU’s Captain Marvel is an equivalent to DCEU’s Wonder Woman. She was the first female superhero who got her standalone movie in the franchise and an inspiration both on-screen and in real life.
Just like Wonder Woman, she is extremely powerful but humble about it, always putting the needs of the less fortunate above everything else. After watching this movie, you’ll probably notice many similarities between these iconic superheroes.
5. ‘Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)’ (2020)
Harley Quinn is a special character because it is hard to determine exactly what she is; most of the time, she doesn’t know either. Sometimes a villain, sometimes an anti-hero, but perhaps the best description that fits her in this movie is a redeemed villain and antiheroine who tries to find her way.
This movie might be entertaining because it is also centered around female antiheroines who show the world that they can stand up for themselves and refuse to live in anyone’s shadow.
6. ‘Justice League’ (2017)
If you are a fan of Wonder Woman, then you’ll love this movie. Diana, alongside Batman, Superman, Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg, is in a movie filled with superhero action, humorous conversations, and taking down the bad guys. It’s a treat to watch, and if you notice the flaws in the movie, the next one on the list can make you forget about all that.
7. ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ (2021)
This is a director’s cut of the ‘Justice League’ movie, filling in any plot holes and vagueness the movie from 2017 had. This movie is four hours long, which means there are many more scenes portraying Wonder Woman and other superheroes, which is something any fan would surely enjoy.
8. ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ (2016)
This movie is dark and gloomy for the most part, but a great one, nevertheless. One of the most thrilling scenes is when Bruce Wayne discovers the existence of Wonder Woman and her identity.
Diana made a debut in this movie, and even if it was just for a brief moment, many fans agree that it was one of the more thrilling scenes in DCEU. If you’re interested in what it is all about, you should watch this movie also.
9. ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ (2023)
In this movie, Billy Baker and Shazam mention several times that they have a huge crush on Diana. So, when Wonder Woman finally shows up at the end of the movie, Shazam subtly gives her a hint that they should go out on a date once he’s eighteen. That did not go as planned, but it made everyone laugh. If you are a fan of the DCEU franchise, you will probably enjoy this one, even though the critics could be better.
10. ‘The Flash’ (2023)
This movie centers on Barry Allen and his endeavors to liberate his father from prison. In the process, he discovers that he can time travel and abuses that. Wonder Woman appears briefly in one scene at the movie’s beginning, uses her Lasso of Truth on Batman and Barry Allen, and makes them spill some funny secrets about themselves. So, if you wish to see Diana’s brief appearance, this movie is also a great choice, and the movie overall is not bad.
11. ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ (2022)
This movie might be an unpopular choice for this list since the movie critics were not really fond of it. However, two female characters, Jane Foster and Valkyrie, had a lot to say in this movie about women’s leadership and being worthy.
Jane became Lady Thor after Mjolnir deemed her worthy. She became a mighty superhero who fought equally alongside Thor. Valkyrie once again proved her capabilities as she has the whole New Agard under her responsibility.
12. ‘Hidden Figures’ (2016)
This movie is on the list because it tells the story of three extraordinary women who have reshaped history with their abilities, courage, and standing up for women’s rights. It is an inspirational movie based on a true story of how three brilliant women used their intellect to overcome racism, segregation, and discrimination while working at NASA. Like Diana once said, ‘I am the man that can’; the same can be said for these real-life heroines.
