Ms. Marvel’s Surprising X-Men Future Teased in Mysterious New Update
Ms. Marvel may not be one of the oldest mutants in Marvel’s history, but she has certainly become one of the most popular in recent times. A new story seems to hint that she will play a more significant role in the X-Men’s future.
In the comic ‘Timeslide #1,’ Cable and Bishop travel through time to stop the villain Vacuna from rewriting mutant history. During their journey, they discover a list of upcoming events, one of which teases Ms. Marvel in a story titled “Ms. Marvel Second Genesis.”
Ms. Marvel’s transformation into a mutant happened in last year’s ‘Spider-Man’ #26, when Kamala Khan was killed by the villain Emissary and later resurrected as a mutant. This change initially sparked backlash, with many fans concerned that the MCU was influencing the comics too heavily.
In ‘Timeslide #1,’ (Foxe, Fiorelli) Cable and Bishop are transported to the past, where they see Ms. Marvel fighting alongside the X-Men against Dark Phoenix. While this moment seems unusual, the “Second Genesis” tease suggests it could be more than a time glitch. It hints that Ms. Marvel may travel back in time to join the X-Men during their early battles, including the Dark Phoenix saga.
“Second Genesis” refers to the 1974 comic ‘Giant-Size X-Men’ #1, which introduced the second X-Men team, including Cyclops, Storm, and Wolverine. Ms. Marvel’s appearance in this era could signal her learning more about her mutant powers with the help of the X-Men.
Since revealing her mutant status, Ms. Marvel has interacted with many X-Men characters, including Cyclops. She’s also worked with teams like the Avengers and the Champions. If the “Second Genesis” storyline takes her back to the early days of the X-Men, it could be the perfect opportunity for her to learn about her powers while fighting alongside the X-Men.
