Netflix Pulls the Plug on The Recruit After Two Seasons

Share:

Netflix has decided to end The Recruit after just two seasons. The spy drama, starring Noah Centineo, premiered in December 2022 and gained popularity. However, despite strong viewership, the show will not continue.

The cancellation was first revealed by actor Colton Dunn, who played Lester Kitchens. Netflix later confirmed the news. This came as a surprise since the show performed well on Netflix’s charts, reaching the No. 2 spot during its release week. The show also made it to Nielsen’s streaming charts, proving its popularity.

The series followed Owen Hendricks (played by Centineo), a young CIA lawyer who gets caught up in dangerous missions. The second season ended with major twists, but now fans will never see what happens next.

There are a few possible reasons why the show got canned, although they weren’t clearly communicated to the fans.

The long wait between seasons may have made people lose interest in The Recruit. Season 2 had fewer episodes, which could mean Netflix was unsure about the show. It also had to compete with The Night Agent, which did even better. Spy shows cost a lot to make, so Netflix may have canceled it to save money.
