Netflix to Adapt Stephen King’s Classic Thriller “Cujo” into a New Film

Stephen King’s Cujo, the bestselling novel that has entertained readers for decades, is getting a new film adaptation. Netflix has made a deal to turn this thrilling story into a feature film, with Roy Lee set to produce. The streaming giant will begin searching for writers to bring this terrifying tale to life.
Cujo was first published in 1981 and was turned into a movie in 1983. The original film starred Dee Wallace as a mother who is desperately trying to protect her young son from a once-friendly St. Bernard dog named Cujo.
The dog, who had been bitten by a rabid bat, turns into a wild and ferocious creature, terrorizing the family. The novel and the 1983 film both take place in a small, isolated town, where the mother and son are trapped inside a hot car, unable to escape. With the dog circling outside, they are left with a terrible choice: fight the dog or endure the extreme heat inside the car.
The story of Cujo is one of King’s most famous and unsettling tales. It explores the themes of fear, survival, and the power of nature. As the mother, Donna Trenton, and her son Tad find themselves locked in a fight for survival, the tension builds as the rabid dog’s behavior becomes more unpredictable.
The book also explores the relationship between Donna and her husband, the disintegration of their marriage, and the sense of isolation that comes from living in a small town.
The 1983 film adaptation was a hit, but Netflix plans to breathe new life into the story with a fresh vision. The film is part of a growing number of King adaptations making their way to the screen, including the highly anticipated The Long Walk, The Running Man, and a prequel to It called Welcome to Derry.
