While some upcoming MCU projects, such as the Blade movie, have been put on hold due to the ongoing WGA strike, the production of some other projects is still going according to plan. Captain America: New World Order, the fourth Captain America and the first one with Anthony Mackie as the title character, has been in production since last March, and it is expected to last until June.

Chris Evans debuted as Steve Rogers/the original Captain America, in his first standalone movie in 2011. Evans played the role until 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, after which he retired and gave the shield to his close friend Sam Wilson, then known as the Falcon. The Falcon and the Winter Solider TV series on Disney+ premiered in March 2021, and it followed Sam Wilson’s path of initially refusing the shield to the point when he decided to become the next Captain America.

New set photos reveal a new Captain America suit and a new cast member!

Thanks to @Christo45951886 (via Captain America 4 Updates), today we got two new photos from the movie’s set on which we got the first look at Sam Wilson’s second Captain America suit and a new cast member — WWE star Seth Rollins! From the photos, we can see that the second Captain America suit will feature a dark blue than the original suit, while Rollins is reportedly set to play a member of the Serpent Society.

In Marvel Comics, the Serpent Society is an organization of snake-themed supervillains, such as Anaconda, Black Mamba, Princess Python, Viper, etc. Mark Gruenwald and Paul Neary created this supervillain group, and it first appeared in the source material in Captain America #310 in October 1985. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe canon, the Serpent Society appeared only in Captain America: The Winter Soldier – The Official Game, where the group was depicted as a criminal organization led by King Cobra.

The development of the fourth Captain America movie began shortly after the conclusion of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, with the series’ creator Malcolm Spellman developing a screenplay. The movie was officially announced as Captain America: New World Order at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2022. Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, and Carl Lumbly are reprising their respective roles from the series.

Liv Tyler returns as Betty Ross for the first time since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, while Tim Blake Nelson reprises the role of Samuel Sterns, aka Leader, from the same movie. Star Wars and Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford joined the movie as Thaddeus Ross, replacing the late actor William Hurt. Ford is also set to reprise the role in the upcoming Thunderbolts movie.

Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: New World Order is set to be released on May 3, 2024.
