While the MCU is currently focused on Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Victor Von Doom, Marvel Comics continues to chart its own course, evolving beloved storylines and characters. This report will focus on one such storyline from the upcoming series Rogue: Savage Land, which sees the iconic X-Men member return to the Savage Land.

Written by Tim Seeley, the series will also delve into a controversial and intriguing aspect of Rogue’s past—the reexamination of her relationship with Magneto, one of the most debated romances in X-Men history. Fans are in for an exciting ride.

The serialization kicks off today, September 15, 2024, with Tim Seeley (Venom War: Wolverine) writing and debut Marvel Comics artist Zulema Lavina providing the illustrations. This series returns to the original setting established in Chris Claremont and Jim Lee’s iconic Uncanny X-Men issues #269 and #274-275. In that storyline, Rogue ventured into the Savage Land, where she embarked on a passionate romance with Magneto and explored this new world. The upcoming series is described as follows:

The X-Man called Rogue has always been a survivor, but without her mutant powers she’ll need to prove it like never before! As the Savage Land turns towards war, Rogue will need all her skills to survive dinosaurs, mutates, and the Master of Magnetism himself!

In a recent interview, Tim Seeley shared the following insights about the comic book:

“In these five issues, I get to utilize my love for 80s X-Men, Jim Lee, Chris Claremont, Zabu, scantily clad heroines (and heroes!) and probably most importantly: dinosaurs. Alongside my collaborator Zulema Lavina, we’re going to deliver something fresh, while honoring the impossibly sexy and epic classic tale of a young Rogue, and two of the weirdest allies a girl from Mississippi could ask for: Magneto and Ka-Zar.”

Artist Zulema Lavina also had this to say:

“After winning the Marvel Art Atelier, I was still realizing what an incredible opportunity this is, and then I was asked to draw this Rogue limited series which I immediately fell in love with. It is great to collaborate again with Tim Seeley and I hope the readers will enjoy this amazing story as much as I am. The character of Rogue is full of empathy and determination, the iconic Savage Land setting is fantastic, the story is full of wild and unexpected stuff – I can’t wait for you to read it!”

As you can tell, excitement is building for this storyline, and we’re eager to see what the creative team has in store. We hope you enjoy it!
