New Report Claims James Bond Will Remain British and Male Under Amazon

James Bond is one of the most famous literary and movie characters of all time. The Bond film franchise is one of the longest-running ones (it started in 1962 with Dr. No), which goes to show just how important James Bond is as a pop culture icon.

But, as you probably know, the franchise has gone through a series of shake-ups recently as Amazon bought the rights to the Bond franchise and effectively kicked out Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who spearheaded the franchise for decades, making Bond into the icon he is today.

And while it is expected that some major changes are going to happen in the future, Amazon’s plans with the IP are still unclear, but most commentators are “afraid” that the franchise will be franchised even further and that we will start seeing Bond and related characters pop-up everywhere, especially in various different series.

And while many are worried about the future of the franchise, a recent report shared one important thing that might put some of the worries at easer. Namely, Amazon has reportedly confirmed that the next James Bond will be male and British and that this will remain unchanged while they’re running the franchise.

Who is going to be the next Bond, you ask? Well, that is unknown. Aaron Taylor-Johnson was supposedly very close to a deal, but we have to see whether that one will come to life. Other candidates are in the poll as well, so we’ll see, but we can at least be sure that Amazon will not break away from one of the franchise’s fundamental traditions. For now.
