James Gunn’s DCU is gradually taking shape, and while details remain limited, we have a sense of his direction. Some key roles have been cast, but many—including major characters—are still up for grabs, with actors actively expressing interest.

One significant role yet to be cast is Dick Grayson. It’s unclear whether Gunn plans to introduce him as Robin or Nightwing, as this depends on the timeline he chooses for the DCU.

If Gunn opts for Nightwing, one actor with experience voicing the character is eager to take on the role in live-action. Want to know who? Keep reading to find out!

Remember the Gotham Knights video game? It was originally seen as a spiritual successor to the Arkham series, but ended up being its own project, despite sharing some narrative elements.

While it didn’t flop, the game didn’t quite live up to expectations, and although it had its highlights, most fans have largely forgotten about it.

Nightwing was one of the four playable characters in the game, voiced by actor Christopher Sean, whose performance was a standout.

Despite his experience with Nightwing being in the virtual realm, Sean has expressed interest in reprising the role in live-action. He’s now actively calling on James Gunn to cast him as Nightwing in the DCU.

No, yeah, I’ve done two. I played Nightwing in DC’s Gotham Knights, which is really awesome because I’m the first Asian American to portray Nightwing. And I also played Toyman in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League – engineer, savant, genius. Genius boy.

And it’s nice because I think he’s the only Japanese American mixed character, which is really nice. But jumping into live action? I would absolutely love that. I’ve trained my whole life in martial arts, again, many of these people… they were my role models growing up.

The way I trained, the martial arts I learned, so that I could portray them live action. So if there’s ever that opportunity, I’m ready… James Gunn, pull the trigger.

Honestly, it seems unlikely that this will happen, even if Gunn includes Nightwing from the beginning. But who knows—there could be a surprise in store!
