Outspoken ‘The Acolyte’ Supporters Are Trying to Get YouTubers Canceled Over Alleged “Harassment”

Star Wars: The Acolyte’ has recently been under the media spotlight, but not for positive reasons. Following 8 episodes, the show was canceled. The exact reasons why were never revealed by either Lucasfilm or Disney but insiders claim that it had everything to do with high budget and low viewership.

Even before its release and cancelation, the show was highly controversial, and quite frankly due to the state of the show no one was surprised that it was ultimately canceled.

Fans of the Star Wars franchise in general noticed that the show with such a high budget had no right to have bad pacing, writing, acting, dialogues, and story overall. I mean, just look at this gem of a line: “We have unfinished business, attack me with all your strength.”

Almost every aspect of ‘The Acolyte’ was lacking, except for the action sequences and supporting characters, however unfortunately due to some “twists” we never had more time with those supporting characters and we never managed to connect with them properly.

Amandla Stenberg, the main star of the show, accused “hyper-conservative bigotry and vitriol, prejudice, hatred and hateful language towards us” for the show being canceled, all the while ignoring that she used her platform several times to attack fans as well.

No matter whether you agree with Stenberg or not, it’s important to note that attacking someone on a personal level is never okay, attacking someone on a racial basis due to Star Wars sounds bizarre but it ultimately did happen, and there’s no use in denying it.

However, since ‘The Acolyte’ supporters can’t go after all those toxic fans individually they decided to hit back at the second-best targets, YouTube channels that criticized the show.

Mollie Damon of the popular YouTube channel and podcast Star Wars Explained took it upon herself to start an anti-backlash movement by encouraging people to mass-report several YouTube channels that often criticized certain aspects of the show.

Channels like Geeks + Gamers, RK Outpost, Nerdrotic, and Star Wars Theory were called out for “racist attacks” on “marginalized actors.” Damon did not provide any evidence for her claims, but she did “contact” YouTube in an attempt to have the channels de-platformed, knowing well that what she was doing was libel.

In any case, even after her followers admitted to reporting the channels for no good reason, the YouTube spokesperson on X basically told her there was no basis to do anything about these YouTube channels:

And speaking of the Star Wars Theory channel, this is just one more in line of accusations directed toward the YouTuber that had no basis in anything real. Back when ‘The Acolyte’ started airing, the YouTuber found himself to be a target of death threats by some fans of the show due to criticized Wookieepedia. Famous YouTube had to go as far as to threaten legal action due to spreading false information, inciting harassment against him and his staff, and overall damaging his brand.
