Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, who starred together in ‘Game of Thrones,’ are reuniting for ‘The Dreadful,’ a gothic horror film. The movie, written and directed by Natasha Kermani, is set during the War of the Roses. It follows Anne (Turner) and her mother-in-law, Morwen, who live a tough, isolated life.

Their world changes when a man (Harington) from their past returns, triggering a series of events that alter Anne’s life.

The War of the Roses was a series of civil wars in England between 1455 and 1487, fought between two rival factions: the House of Lancaster (represented by a red rose) and the House of York (represented by a white rose). The conflict was over control of the English throne, ultimately leading to the rise of the Tudor dynasty.

The producers of ‘The Dreadful’ include Luke Daniels from Redwire Pictures/Tunnel, Patrick Muldoon and Patrick Hibler from Storyboard Media, Lucas Jarach, and Greg Lauritano under his Black Magic banner. Film Bridge International is managing international sales, while UTA Independent Film Group is handling domestic sales.

Zygi Kamasa, the film’s distributor recently confirmed that the production for the movie has wrapped and that his company will distribute it.

Zamasa wants to revive the UK’s horror film industry, which was once very successful in the 1960s and 1970s with films like those produced by Hammer Horror. He believes that while horror still performs well in cinemas, the UK should not simply copy American horror films. Instead, it should create original content that reflects its own unique style and creativity.

I feel very much that I want to go further in trying to encourage the UK industry to make more horror movies because horror still works consistently well in cinemas. If we’re going to do horror in this country, go back. I mean we were dominating horror in the Sixties and Seventies, the Hammer horror and all that. And then I think we lost that business to the Americans. But if we’re going to do it, you can’t copy, you mustn’t copy the Americans. You’ve got to be original.

The release date for the movie is still unknown, we will update you will all future news. Have something to add? Let us know in the comments below!
