‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is among the most exciting upcoming MCU installments. The movie will see Sam Wilson taking over the mantle of Captain America in his first standalone movie and will see him going up against Thaddeus Ross’ Red Hulk.
One of the most notable things regarding the movie’s production is how it spent considerable time and money on additional lengthy reshoots.
According to some past reports, the movie wasn’t received all that well by the test audiences and the reasons were stated to be poor action, boring story, lukewarm political messaging, and bad chemistry between Anthony Mackie’s lead and his romantic interest.
Later reports stated that the reshoots added $100 Million to the movie’s budget, and considering the price tag, it seems that they were indeed extensive.
Soon after the first movie was released, fans also noticed that it seems more like a Hulk movie than a Captain America movie, taking into account all villains confirmed to appear. We know that the standalone Hulk movie likely won’t happen anytime soon, Ruffalo confirmed as much recently.
It’s mostly due to complicated rights that allow Hulk to appear in other projects but bar him from starring in his own solo movie. This is what leads us to the, at this point legendary, rumored project that’s supposed to loosely adapt the ‘World War Hulk’ storyline. So, how is this rumored project connected to ‘Captain America 4’?
We don’t have any official confirmation, only rumors, but, recently, the entire plot of ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ supposedly leaked online, and one surprising character added to the movie is Amadeus Cho, played by Logan Kim.
Amadeus Cho would become the MCU’s fourth Hulk, joining Bruce Banner, She-Hulk, and Thaddeus Ross’ Red Hulk. There’s also the issue of adamantium and other powerful beings trying to gain its power.
A few months ago, Alex Perez from Cosmic Circus shared an interesting theory.
According to Perez, the studio has been building a “World War” storyline across several projects like ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home,’ ‘WandaVision,’ ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ ‘Black Widow,’ ‘Eternals,’ ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ ‘Ms. Marvel,’ ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,’ ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,’ and ‘Secret Invasion.’
This storyline focuses on the world’s growing concerns about the rising number of superheroes since ‘Endgame.’ With no active Avengers, countries are rushing to create their own superpowered soldiers or teams for protection.
For example, France’s secret attempts to get vibranium from Wakanda and the U.S.’s hidden efforts, along with the Department of Damage Control handling superhuman incidents. This storyline will build up in projects like ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ where nations push their superhuman plans, including creating Hulks.
We know that adamantium and the fallen Celestial will play a big role in the upcoming movie, and the presence of several Hulks in the MCU now lays a solid foundation for World War Hulk to finally come to fruition.
The latest rumors are that the extensive reshoots truly did add those connections to further set up ‘World War Hulk.’
If this turns out to be correct, Marvel Studios is laying the groundwork where Bruce Banner face his worst fears as governments create their own Hulks. This conflict could bring about the return of the Savage Hulk, culminating in a showdown between Banner and another Hulk, presumably to be introduced.
