Robert Downey Jr. is undeniably one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Despite a tumultuous past filled with challenges, he has managed to turn his life around, becoming one of the most beloved, respected, and influential actors in the industry.

The MCU played a significant role in revitalizing his career, with his portrayal of Iron Man catapulting him back into the spotlight. Since then, he has taken on numerous impressive roles, including Sherlock Holmes in Guy Ritchie’s films and an Oscar-winning performance in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. He’s also set to return to the MCU, this time as Doctor Doom.

But what about his personal life? In an older interview with GQ, Downey Jr. shared insights into his private world, including the TV shows and actors he admires. In this article, we’ll reveal Downey’s favorite shows and the performers he holds in high regard!

The interview happened a while back, but with Robert Downey Jr. once again making headlines, we thought it was the perfect time to revisit it and share more about the actor. In that conversation, Downey revealed his favorite TV shows, and now you’ll get to see if any MCU series made the list:

How many TVs in your house?
Very excellent question. You want a real count, don’t you?

I do.
Okay. [whispers] Two…three…four… [aloud] five.

What do you watch on them?
Well, last night, I watched the conclusion of The People v. O.J. Simpson. Previous to that, I doubled back and finished up season four of House of Cards. Maybe the best season yet. I am frothing at the thumb controls for the second season of Mr. Robot, which is probably the best thing that’s been on TV or theater for five years. I am hopelessly strung out on what used to be the Military History channel—and then they changed channel 287 on DirecTV to the American Heroes channel—because I love military history.

He also shares which younger actors and actresses he admires:

Do you have a favorite performance by an actress?
When Noomi Rapace did Girl with the Dragon Tattoo—what I like are performances that, without reinventing the wheel, they create another color in the spectrum. I could refer to my mom’s work in these kind of more experimental associative films that she did with my dad. Pretty much anything that Shirley MacLaine has ever done. She’s the person whose gift has least diminished over generations.

What about actors?
Um…Rami Malek. He’s the one right now. Everybody else should be studying this guy.
