Rotta the Hutt Will Be Depicted as Buff Gladiator in ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Reports Claim

‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ is a Star Wars movie directed by Jon Favreau, co-written with Dave Filoni, and follows the Disney+ series ‘The Mandalorian.’ Starring Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, and Jonny Coyne, it’s produced by Lucasfilm and will be distributed by Disney.

Originally planned as the fourth season of the series, the project shifted to a movie due to delays from the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes. Filming started in California in August 2024 and wrapped by December, with the film set to release on May 22, 2026.

Not that many details related to the plot are available at this moment and most of what we got are speculations and rumors. One interesting rumor surfaced today from a highly reputable source, Bespin Bulletin. The source reveals that according to their sources, Rotta the Hutt played by Jeremy Allen White will appear as a gladiator in the movie, sporting a muscular build, facial scars from battles, and wielding a vibroblade.

Embo, hired by Hutts from ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ is a villain targeting Rotta, while Din Djarin is reportedly tasked by the New Republic—possibly through Sigourney Weaver’s Colonel Bishop—to capture Rotta.

Kristian Harloff Show talked about something similar some time ago. The film’s plot allegedly centers on an adult Rotta, who is kidnapped and held hostage. Mando and Grogu are hired to rescue him, while the villain, Embo (voiced by Dave Filoni), is trying to kill Rotta. The storyline echoes Rotta’s earlier ‘Clone Wars’ arc but focuses on his adult life.

I think it’s pretty significant as far as being part of the plot, from what I understand. There was a storyline in The Clone Wars when he was a baby that he was kidnapped and had to be rescued and I think what they’re doing it now as him as an adult. What it looks like, is it looks like Mando and Grogu are hired to rescue him. He’s held hostage and they’re kind of like the good guys.

And the bad guy is someone, I even see people kind of guessing it in the comments below, and Embo is coming back. He was voiced by Dave Filoni. He’ll be voiced by Dave Filoni again. He is basically the big bad in this story from what I’m hearing. It looks like Embo is the big bad and him and Mando both going after Rotta. Mando’s trying to rescue him. Embo is trying to kill him.
