Rumors Tease Kitty Pryde and Gambit as Potential X-Men Members for MCU’s Reboot

Before ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ the MCU only teased the idea of mutants without making it as clear as it is in Deadpool’s third movie. While there were plenty of nods and Easter eggs about the X-Men, they weren’t acknowledged the same way they are in this new film.

So far, we’ve seen a few mutants in the MCU, like Kamala Khan and Namor, who are expected to return in future movies. We also got brief appearances from Professor X and Beast in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ and ‘The Marvels.’

It’s clear that mutants and the X-Men will play a major role in the MCU’s upcoming saga. Even Kevin Feige confirmed that the “era of mutants” has officially begun.

Live-action reboot is currently being penned by Michael Lesslie, and while we don’t know much about the team or their stories, industry insiders are always more than happy to shed some light on what the future will bring.

Now Daniel Richtman reports via his Patreon that a recent casting grid reveals that Kitty Pryde and Gambit will be part of the team in the reboot. This is great news for Tatum’s Gambit since he’s been pushing for his own movie or a role in the MCU pretty much since ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ was released. Fans are excited about it too.

This is not the first time that Richtman has reported on the potential team’s roster. More than half a year ago, Richtman reported that Leslie already pitched his potential team for the MCU, and it’s the full roster of ‘X-Men ’97.

This means that MCU’s reboot would have the following team: Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Jean Grey, Professor X, Morph, Bishop, Magneto, Nightcrawler and Sunspot.

It’s understandable that Lesslie would want to cash in on the success of the animated series. The show was a surprise hit for Marvel Studios, having consistently high critics and audience ratings. The show was renewed for a second season even before the first season’s premiere, and there are talks about the early development of season three as well.
