Ryan Reynolds Reveals Major Marvel Death That Was Cut from ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the biggest superhero release in the last few years. The success of the movie can largely be attributed to fan service, numerous Marvel legacy characters included in the movie, and numerous Deadpool and Wolverine variants.

The movie was an emotional transition from Fox’s X-Men universe to MCU, and as such it featured a lot of farewells, and some notable story arcs have been closed. But if Reynolds is to be believed, the movie almost featured the death of one fan-favorite character.

One of the most impactful scenes in the movie is toward the end when Wolverine and Deadpool finally join to stop the TVA’s Time-Ripper from destroying Deadpool’s reality. In the background, a beautiful rendition of ‘Like a Prayer’ can be heard.

Reynolds is currently promoting that version of the song for Grammy consideration and via social media posts, the actor revealed that he originally envisioned Colossus as his dance partner instead of Wolverine.

He also mentioned that Colossus would have died, leading to anger and a quest for revenge from Deadpool.

“I had Like A Prayer stuck in my head for the 3rd Deadpool film since 2017. Before Wolverine entered the chat, it was largely gonna be the same motion-control sequence I’d been dreaming about, except my dance partner was originally COLOSSUS. He would have died in the preceding scene, launching Deadpool into a state of pure rage and revenge… all set to @madonna’s inspired and singular song, Like A Prayer

Reynolds being Reynolds, had to close the post with a hilarious remark targeted toward Colossus.

“Obviously, Hugh joining changed the destiny for everyone. (And Colossus, along with his virginity, stayed intact)”

We’re glad that Colossus was ultimately spared. The character, voiced by Stefan Kapičić appears in the movie but in a minor role. It’s for the best in light of what Reynolds revealed, as we’re certain we want to see Colossus in future MCU projects. Just don’t ever dance with Deadpool.
