‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ has become one of the most successful MCU movies recently. It brought Deadpool and Wolverine into the cinematic universe, along with some fan-favorite legacy characters from Marvel’s history.

This fan service helped the movie earn over $1 billion at the box office and win many awards. However, Ryan Reynolds recently shared that the original pitch for the movie was very different. He revealed that several of his ideas for the film were quickly rejected.

The movie started off as many different ideas, including a Christmas movie where Deadpool saves Santa and a bad cop movie called ‘Alpha Cop.’ It was only recently revealed that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ almost didn’t happen because Reynolds couldn’t figure out the story, until Hugh Jackman suggested returning, and everything clicked.

Now, with a billion dollars at the box office, we have the movie we know today. In a recent interview with Variety, Reynolds shared another pitch that never saw the light of day—one that involved Bambi.

Ryan Reynolds revealed that his first idea for a Deadpool-Wolverine movie was told from both characters’ perspectives, inspired by the style of “Rashomon.”

Marvel turned that down, so Reynolds jokingly pitched some ridiculous ideas, like a Sundance-style film with no special effects or conflict, and a story about the hunter who shot Bambi’s mom. Marvel laughed and responded, saying, “We don’t touch Bambi, Ryan.”

REYNOLDS: They were incredible partners. It was meant to be, because the first pitch I had for Marvel and Kevin Feige five years ago was a Deadpool-Wolverine movie in the “Rashomon” style, which is his perspective, then mine, then an objective.

REYNOLDS: And they said no. So then I pitched the most idiotic movies. One was a Sundance movie I pitched them — no special effects, no conflict. And then I pitched one where it’s a two-hander with me and the hunter who shot Bambi’s mom. Their answer was “We don’t touch Bambi, Ryan.”

We knew about the Rashomon-style movie, but the Bambi idea was a surprise, and we have just one question for Reynolds – how could you?
