The anime adaptation of Yuuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days just revealed two more cast members: Kazuyuki Okitsu as Kashima and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Natsuki Seba. These two join the growing roster of characters in the anime. A preview for the seventh episode of the show has also been streamed.
The anime debuted on January 11 on TV Tokyo and Netflix, with the first batch of 11 episodes being labeled as “Part 1.” Part 2 will be available in July. The series has been doing well, ranking second worldwide in the non-English shows category for the week of January 13-19, just behind Squid Game: Season 2.
Masaki Watanabe, who’s worked on shows like KADO – The Right Answer and Bartender, is directing the anime at TMS Entertainment. Taku Kishimoto, known for his work on BLUELOCK and Haikyu!!, is handling the script, while Yō Moriyama is designing the characters.
The opening theme, ‘Hashire Sakamoto’ (Run, Sakamoto), is performed by Vaundy, and the ending theme, ‘Futsū’ (Normal), is by Conton Candy.
The manga started as a one-shot titled Sakamoto in Jump Giga in December 2019 and later became a full series in Weekly Shonen Jump in November 2020. The plot centers around Taro Sakamoto, a retired assassin who used to be feared by criminals and admired by fellow hitmen.
After falling in love, Sakamoto settles down and gains weight, running a neighborhood store. Now, he has to protect his family from the danger that’s still chasing him. Viz Media and MANGA Plus are publishing the manga in English.
