Sam Wilson Takes Charge Against Mega-Hulk Monsters in the Latest Clip for ‘What If…?’ Final Season

The first season of ‘What If…?’ was released back in 2021. The whole concept of the show explored alternate realities within the multiverse, showing how the stories of beloved Marvel characters might have unfolded differently if key events were altered, under the watchful eye of Uatu the Watcher.

The series proved to be successful enough, which warranted two additional seasons. The last season of the animated series is bound to premiere on December 22, 2024, and now the studio has released the latest clip showcasing one very special episode.

The brief clip shows Sam Wilson/Captain America piloting a mech suit alongside Monica Rambeau. They are observing an impending invasion of what appears to be some kind of mutated monsters that appear similar to Hulk in their body build.

The setting of the clip, the mecha suits, and the monsters seem very reminiscent of Pacific Rim. This is most likely a clip from the anime-inspired episode titled “Go-Avengers: Heroes of the Gamma War” featuring the Avengers piloting powerful mechs to battle a swarm of massive Mega-Hulk monsters.

The team will include Sam Wilson/Captain America, Black Widow, Red Guardian, Xu Shang-Chi, Monica Rambeau, Moon Knight, Shuri, and Melina Vostokoff.

Besides this anime-inspired episode, the fans can also look forward to a Red Guardian–centered episode featuring Bucky Barnes, Bill Foster, and Ranger Morales. Initially planned for the second season. An episode featuring Agatha Harkness with a musical number, and an episode showcasing a Western-themed team-up between Shang-Chi and Kate Bishop.
