Scott Snyder Teases Fresh Takes on Bane, Mr. Freeze, and More Iconic Foes in ‘Absolute Batman’

‘Absolute Batman’ is a DC Comics series written by Scott Snyder and illustrated by Nick Dragotta. It started on October 9, 2024, as part of DC’s new Absolute Universe.
The story follows 24-year-old Bruce Wayne, a civil engineer by day who becomes the vigilante Batman at night. Meanwhile, he’s secretly being watched by agent Alfred Pennyworth.
The series is radically different as it reimagines classic Batman characters with fresh twists. In this version, Catwoman, Riddler, Two-Face, Penguin, and Killer Croc grew up alongside Bruce Wayne, sharing a near-family bond.
A new take on the Joker has also debuted, along with revamped versions of Alfred and Jim Gordon. Writer Scott Snyder teased even more surprises, hinting that fan-favorite characters will soon appear in the story.
Scott Snyder confirmed that Scarecrow and Mr. Freeze would appear in ‘Absolute Batman’. Mr. Freeze’s tragic backstory makes him a fan favorite, and the series’ fresh take on characters could make his story even more exciting. Scarecrow might stay closer to his classic version or be reimagined in new ways. Snyder also revealed that Man-Bat and Doctor Thompkins will join the story, with Thompkins appearing in issue five.

Bane is one of Batman’s most dangerous enemies, known for his immense strength and intelligence. He’s infamous for breaking Batman’s back during the iconic ‘Knightfall’ storyline. Raised in a harsh prison environment, Bane uses the drug Venom to enhance his abilities and is a master strategist who rivals Batman’s intellect.
We can’t even imagine how twisted Bane’s storyline can be.
