Did the Latest ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Filming Photos Confirm Another Galactus’ Herald Will Be in the Movie?

‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ is easily one of the most exciting MCU projects. The movie, bound for 2025 release is going to introduce Marvel’s first family to the MCU as well as some of their most notable villains.

We already know that Galactus will be in the movie, voiced by Ralph Ineson, and that the role of Galactus’ Herald went to Julia Garner who will be portraying Shalla-Ball, a female version of Silver Surfer.

The filming is currently taking place at Pinewood Studios in London, and we’ve already had several set leaks, including Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm holding a young Franklin Richards and most recently, we’ve seen a leaked video showing crew members adjusting The Thing’s costume.

Now the latest set leak could turn out to be largely irrelevant or a major thing. An image started circulating on X that is very clearly from the set of ‘First Steps.’ The image shows what appears to be a woman in black clothing but covered in gold body paint.

Now Nova is a separate Herald of Galactus unconnected to Shalla-Bal. Frankie Raye, the secret step-daughter of Phineas Horton, accidentally gained flame powers similar to the original Human Torch and later became the girlfriend of Johnny Storm, the new Human Torch. She briefly joined the Fantastic Four before volunteering to become Galactus’ new Herald, known as Nova, to save Earth and pursue her desire for freedom and exploration.

As Nova, she led Galactus to numerous planets, but the toll of destroying inhabited worlds affected her mental health, leading to her dismissal. She eventually teamed up with other ex-Heralds to defeat her monstrous successor, Morg, but died in the battle, though she later returned.

Honestly, this one seems like a stretch, but it’s a decent enough theory considering that there have been rumors that there will be two Silver Surfers in the movie. Fans reacted badly to the announcement that Julia Garner will be portraying Silver Surfer, partially because fans have been expecting Norrin Radd, and instead, they are getting a seemingly gender-bent version of the character and partially due to Shalla-Bal being largely irrelevant as far as Heralds go.

Most recent rumors claim that Garner’s role as Herald will be “one and done” and she will be ultimately replaced by a different Surfer.
