‘Secret Invasion’: Which Powers Did Gravik and G’iah Use?

One of the things that we saw in the finale of ‘Secret Invasion’ was that Gravik and G’iah became stronger than they ever were after exposing themselves to the Super Skrull machine that had the DNA that came with the Harvest. In that regard, they were both incredibly powerful in their fight, as it was clear that the Harvest had more powers than we ever thought.
In that fight between Gravik and G’iah, they both displayed so much power that we can say that they became the strongest characters on Earth then. This shows that the Harvest did indeed have the DNA samples that Gravik needed to take over the planet. So, with that said, let’s look at the powers that Gravik and G’iah used in that fight in the ‘Secret Invasion’ finale.
The powers that Gravik and G’iah used
Thor
While we didn’t see Gravik or G’iah using any of Thor’s awesome thunder powers, we did see that G’iah could easily block Gravik’s first punch. Now, one of the things that we noticed in that fight was that whenever Gravik and G’iah used certain powers, the corresponding body parts that used the powers changed. For example, when using the Hulk’s powers, the certain body part that uses the power changes.
In that regard, when we saw G’iah blocking Gravik’s punch quite easily, it was clear that her arm (disguised as Nick Fury) didn’t change. The only character that doesn’t need to change his appearance to use his awesome physical strength is Thor. As such, there’s a good chance that G’iah used Thor’s power to block Gravik’s punch.
The Hulk
The power of the Hulk was one of the first things that G’iah used in that fight with Gravik. She punched him so hard that it seemed like she used the power of the Hulk. Gravik flew into the air and landed hard on the ground after that punch. In that regard, we know that the Hulk is likely the only one strong enough to have the strength to punch someone so hard that the person will be sent flying into the air.
While some people may have missed it, Gravik also used the power of the Hulk when he changed one of his legs into the Hulk’s leg and then kicked G’iah using that leg. That means the Hulk’s power was one of the most widely-used powers in that fight.
Extremis
While Extremis has the power to produce thermal attacks, we didn’t see much of it in the fight between Gravik and G’iah. Instead, as usual, the power of Extremis was used several times in the fight to heal the wounds sustained by both parties.
That means that the power of Extremis was mostly used by both Gravik and G’iah as a way to rapidly heal from their injuries in that fight, considering that their other powers were much more powerful than what Extremis could offer. Of course, Extremis is strong enough to heal from what should have been fatal wounds, as we saw Gravik healing from the stab wound he sustained from G’iah’s ice sword.
The Abomination
The Abomination is one of the strongest characters in the MCU because he has powers similar to the Hulk’s. In fact, at his base level, the Abomination is stronger than the Hulk. And we even saw the Abomination returning to the MCU in ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.’
For some reason, the Harvest contained the Abomination’s DNA, even though he wasn’t there in the Battle of Earth. Nevertheless, we saw Gravik transforming into the Abomination early in that fight, as it was clear that he used the full power of the villain.
Korg
Yes, the funny rock dude that Thor became friends with in ‘Thor: Ragnarök’ was one of the characters that shed “blood” during the Battle of Earth. Of course, it is more than likely that they found a rock sample from Korg and incorporated it into the Harvest. Whatever the case may be, we know that Gravik and G’iah used his powers.
Early in that fight, we saw how Gravik changed his arm into Korg’s arm before battling G’iah in close combat. We also saw G’iah doing the same by using Korg’s power to change her arm into something similar to Korg’s arm as well.
Drax
Drax was also one of the characters that participated in the Battle of Earth, as we know that he may have shed some blood during that fight even though conventional weapons usually don’t affect him.
While we didn’t see a lot of Drax’s power in the final fight in ‘Secret Invasion,’ we did see G’iah showcasing the use of Drax’s power when she changed her left arm into Drax’s arm. Of course, we don’t know why she did that if she could have just used the powers of the other characters with physical strength greater than Drax’s.
Ghost
This was one of the most puzzling powers displayed in the fight between Gravik and G’iah, as some fans weren’t sure which power G’iah used. Gravik threw a car at her, only for G’iah to phase through it. We only know one MCU character capable of intangibility: Ghost.
For those who may have forgotten, Ghost was the villain of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp.’ However, we haven’t seen her since she appeared in that movie. She wasn’t even in the Battle of Earth. But we know there are rumors of her returning in the ‘Thunderbolts’ movie.
Frost Beast
This was one of the most confusing powers displayed in that fight between Gravik and G’iah. That’s because G’iah used some ice-based powers to change her right arm into an ice blade strong enough to pierce Gravik through the chest.
It is possible that this power came from the Frost Beast of Jotunheim, as this creature can cover its entire body in ice. We also know that the Frost Giants were capable of using ice-based powers. That means it wouldn’t be too off for a Frost Beast to have the same ability.
Ebony Maw
Ebony Maw was one of the Children of Thanos and was arguably the strongest out of all of the members of the Black Order. He possessed the power to telekinetically control anything with a flick of his hand, and that’s why he was strong enough to defeat Doctor Strange in ‘Avengers: Infinity War.’
While G’iah didn’t use Ebony Maw’s power, we saw how Gravik could utilize it when he was caught in a tough position after G’iah stabbed him. Gravik transformed his right hand into Ebony Maw’s hand and then used his power to telekinetically throw debris at G’iah. He used it again to launch G’iah off the ground and onto a ceiling.
Mantis
We can’t forget about Mantis, one of the strongest Guardians of the Galaxy members. She can telepathically affect a person’s mind by touching that person. And we even saw how strong her power was when she nearly incapacitated Thanos in ‘Infinity War.’
In that regard, this power was used by G’iah when she and Gravik were fighting up in the air using a familiar power. When they got entangled with one another, G’iah transformed her head into Mantis’ head by growing antennae. After that, she used Mantis’ powers to make Gravik sleep, as he fell to the ground.
Captain Marvel
The power that Gravik and G’iah used the most in their fight was Captain Marvel’s powers. They could cover their bodies with the same light energy that Carol Danvers uses. They clashed while using Danvers’ powers as they took the fight into the air.
Of course, there’s a good reason why they used Captain Marvel’s powers a lot, as she is arguably the strongest out of all of the Avengers. In fact, G’iah used Captain Marvel’s powers as the finishing blow when she blasted pure energy through Gravik’s abdomen to kill him once and for all. And there was no way Gravik was regenerating from that attack.
How many powers did Gravik and G’iah have?
The one thing made clear in that fight between Gravik and G’iah was that the Harvest had more DNA samples than we thought. Originally, we believed the Harvest only contained DNA samples collected during the Battle of Earth. But it was clear that Fury and his men have been collecting samples of different characters that weren’t even there in the Battle of Earth.
We know that they displayed around ten powers in that fight. But we also know that they have more powers, as it was shown on the computer screen of the Super Skrull machine that the Harvest contained DNA samples from characters whose powers were not shown in the ‘Secret Invasion’ finale.
Nevertheless, we know that G’iah now possesses at least 20 DNA samples, namely:
- Ghost
- Captain America (Steve Rogers)
- Corvus Glaive
- Thanos
- Outrider
- Proxima Midnight
- Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers)
- Abomination
- Mantis
- Cull Obsidian
- Drax
- Korg
- Ebony Maw
- Frost Beast
- Hulk
- Valkyrie
- Thor Odinson
- Gamora
- Flora Colossus (Groot)
- Winter Soldier
- Extremis
Of course, they couldn’t have displayed these characters’ powers in that final fight because they didn’t have enough time to do so. Of course, the powers they used in that fight were already more than enough to give either advantage. As such, while it is possible that G’iah now has the power of at least 20 characters, she probably won’t use all of them, especially when there are powers that make the other powers obsolete or redundant.
