Sentry Actor Lewis Pullman Debunks Six-Fingered AI Poster Conspiracy

A few days ago the first trailer and promotional posters for ‘Thunderbolts*’ dropped. The trailer gave us a first view of the cast of the upcoming movie including a first look at Marvel’s most powerful superheroSentry.

Sentry will be played by Lewish Pullman, and even though the trailer already showcased his invincibility, it seems as if MCU will put a special twist on the character by making him out to be “manufactured” superhero.

The fans however did not focus on the small details in the trailer for the most part, since the poster alone managed to stir quite the controversy. The official poster for the movie that was released on Marvel’s own social media seemingly depicted Sentry as having six fingers.

We checked the trailer for the movie specifically the scenes where Sentry appears and he had five fingers in the footage, the fans came to the same conclusion as we did, that the poster was either AI-generated or someone made a mistake while digitally altering it.

MCU is not above using AI, as ‘Secret Invasion’ caused quite a stir on release as well for using an AI-generated intro for the show.

Luckily, it seems that the poster wasn’t AI-generated at all, it’s just a bizarre optical illusion taking place as the actor revealed himself. Pullman spoke to Collider and shed some light on his sixth finger, it’s not a finger at all, it’s just a weird positioning of his hand and shadows:

If you look closely, there’s actually no mistakes going on. I actually spent some time because I was like, ‘Did they give me a sixth finger?’ But they didn’t. It’s just cropped at the right point where it looks like there’s an extra tip happening or something. But that’s about it. I love that.

The actor is, however, correct, apparently if you spend as much time as he did looking at the poster, the perspective changes and you see that he has 5 fingers in total.

I’ve tried to color-code it to the best of my abilities, but if you just count the numbers of fingers and fingertips you will see that we have 5, instead of 6. It’s the angle of his hand and the bizarre way in which his fingers were bent, it looks like the sixth fingertip is not visible in the image, but it is, it’s just that it looks like it belongs to his ring finger
