Fans have been eagerly waiting for the next Captain America movie since Sam Wilson took on the role in the MCU. Sam Wilson’s ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is building up decent hype around it, but it also faced some controversies in the past.

The movie’s development was long and difficult, with multiple delays and reportedly expensive reshoots after poor test screenings. Those reshoots added $100M to the overall budget according to reports, and significantly changed the story.

The original story was supposed to feature King Cobra and the Serpent Society. Seth Rollins also known as Tyler Black a popular WWE wrestler and occasional actor was supposed to portray King Cobra and there were some set images that proved those claims.

Then a few months after those set images were revealed notable industry insider CanWeGetSomeToast reported the following:

The Serpent Society has been completely removed from CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD

Their scenes were the first major action piece that featured Captain America, Falcon and Isiah Badley

Rosa Salazar’s Diamondback might survive the new version of the movie

The post has since been deleted, but this is the original unchanged transcript of it. Considering that the movie was undergoing those aforementioned reshoots at the time, this wasn’t all the hard to believe, until a few weeks ago when Anthony Mackie denied that the movie has gone through some drastic changes and this leads us to today’s interview with Rollins himself.

Rollins revealed on the ‘Insight’ podcast that he didn’t make the final cut. “It releases in February. I wish it the best, but I am not a part of that film… hopefully it’s successful, but it will be sans Seth Rollins,” he said.

Rollins didn’t explain why his scenes were cut, saying he couldn’t give an official reason and hinting that a non-disclosure agreement prevents him from sharing more details.

The script went through a lot of rewrites and reshoots so what I was there to do, essentially my role got either repurposed or completely erased.

We know that some characters, like Esposito’s Sidewinder, were added to the movie following the reshoots, but we also know that some members of Serpent Society survived the changes, notably Rosa Salazar’s Rachel Leighton aka Diamondback.

Following the movie’s first test screenings, the audiences reportedly gave the movie a failing grade for having less than satisfactory action compared to previous Captain America movies, the movie was also reportedly boring with an uninspiring story and Mackie’s chemistry with his romantic co-lead felt flat.

In any case, reports regarding the subsequent test screenings weren’t all that favorable either.
