‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ wasn’t as successful as the first movie, but it still did introduce important characters for the future of the MCU such as Riri Williams and Namor, and also gave us a new Black Panther – T’Challa’s sister Shuri.
Considering that Wakanda will be the focus of several MCU projects that are either bound to be released or in development, fans have been wondering when is Shuri’s next appearance going to be.
It was recently confirmed that ‘Black Panther 3’ is in development, however, several years will pass until the movie releases. Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez recently organized a Discord AMA and shed some light on projects that will be released in between.
Perez believes Shuri will likely appear in the ‘Avengers’ movies, but she may not be the only Black Panther. He also mentioned a rumor that Michael B. Jordan could return as Killmonger in an upcoming Avengers film.
Alex Perez: I can’t imagine Avengers not having Shuri appear, so I think she may show up. But to add some fuel to the fire, I don’t think she’ll be the only Black Panther showing up. There’s a rumor I heard through the grapevine which I thought would be interesting to mention here: Michael B. Jordan may be returning for one of the upcoming Avengers films.
This makes absolute sense considering that the upcoming ‘Avengers’ films will be a mashup of tons of characters, it would be weird to leave out Shuri who is supposed to replace her brother as a vital collaborator of the Avengers as a team.
The next Wakanda-related question was actually related to Valentina Allegra de Fontaine who in the past expressed anti-Wakandan sentiments and worked to destabilize the region. Her next appearance will be in ‘Thunderbolts*’ but nothing about the movie suggests that Wakanda will be referenced or in a huge focus.
Perez explained that the plot involving Valentina declaring war on Wakanda over vibranium has been changed. Instead, the focus has shifted to adamantium, and that storyline is now being explored in ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’
Alex Perez: I don’t really see that happening anymore, since that plot shifted to adamantium and is working in Captain America: Brave New World.
