‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ is a Star Wars movie directed by Jon Favreau, co-written with Dave Filoni, and follows the Disney+ series ‘The Mandalorian.’ Starring Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White, and Jonny Coyne, it’s produced by Lucasfilm and will be distributed by Disney.

Originally planned as the fourth season of the series, the project shifted to a movie due to delays from the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes. Filming started in California in August 2024 and wrapped by December, with the film set to release on May 22, 2026.

Not that many details related to the plot are available at this moment and most of what we got are speculations and rumors. But Sigourney Weaver recently did share some details regarding the most adorable cast member of the movie – Grogu.

Sigourney Weaver admitted that she never really considered joining the Star Wars universe before. However, when she was offered a role in the upcoming movie ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu,’ one major factor convinced her to say yes—Baby Yoda.

In an interview, Weaver shared that getting to act alongside Grogu was a big reason she took the role. She described him as a “little badass” and expressed excitement for fans to see how much he has grown and what new abilities he now has. According to her, Grogu is capable of more than what audiences might expect based on the TV series.

I get to have scenes with a little Grogu which is probably why I did the movie. And he’s a little badass too. It’s going to be wonderful for people to see what Grogu is up to now because he’s grown up a little bit and is capable of much more than maybe we think just watching the series.

‘Alien’ star has never appeared in ‘The Mandalorian’ series, so her character in the upcoming movie ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ remains a mystery. However, reports suggest that she will play a New Republic officer named Colonel Bishop.

When asked for details about her role, Weaver confirmed that her character holds a position of authority and is responsible for sending the Mandalorian on a dangerous mission to the Outer Rim, where “all the bad stuff happens.”

I play a wonderful character who is, you know, in a position of authority. And I have to send the Mandalorian out on a mission on the Outer Rim where all the bad stuff happens.

Despite her long history with major sci-fi franchises like ‘Alien’ and ‘Avatar,’ Weaver never actively sought a role in Star Wars. She explained that while she admires the franchise, she never felt the need to join another big series since she has already been part of some iconic ones. However, when she was offered the role, she was thrilled to accept, especially since she was already a fan of ‘The Mandalorian’ and its creator, Jon Favreau.

I admire [Star Wars], but I don’t sit around wishing I was in another franchise, because I’ve been so lucky to be in some wonderful ones. But at the time, when I was offered it, I was delighted. I’m a great fan of John Favreau. I was already a great fan of The Mandalorian.
