‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ is the name of an upcoming live-action series that will expand the Star Wars universe. The series is currently scheduled for a December premiere on Disney+ and was created by the duo consisting of Jon Watts and Christopher Ford.

The series will follow a group of children, most likely Force-sensitive, who will have to go on an adventure if they want to return to their home planet, from which they got lost after a strange discovery. The children will most likely be chaperoned by Jude Law’s character. He will be the one to find the kids and guide them on their adventure, serving as both a guardian and a mentor figure to the youngest characters.

The story will feature a lot of similarities with children’s classics such as ‘The Goonies,’ but will be watchable for both children and adults, as there will be a similar element to the hit series ‘The Mandalorian,’ which also features an adult (Din Djarin) taking care of a baby (Grogu).

Now while promoting ‘Twisters,’ Lee Isaac Chung revealed for GamesRadar what the viewers can explain from the upcoming Star Wars installment:

I can’t wait for people to see this thing. It’s got a lot of Jon Watts in it, and anyone who’s a fan of what Jon Watts does – he’s very childlike in a beautiful way, in the way that he tells stories, and how he captures a childlike perspective in things. He brings that beautiful perspective to this story of young people in the Star Wars universe.

Despite the show being extremely kids-oriented, Chun explains that it has something for everyone:

I felt like I hadn’t seen this. When I read all of the scripts, and when I was looking at the design of what he was designing – he asked if I would be on board. It was a no-brainer for me once I saw what he was working on. And then, also, working with him on that show, and with Jude and all the incredible actors who we have – it was a lot of fun. We were just having fun all the time. The kids were incredible and great. […] What I hope is that it’s really going to touch families, and families are going to want to spend a lot of time with the show.

The show so far doesn’t have a set release date, but we do know that it’s going to be released in December 2024. The show will likewise consist of 8 episodes and will premiere on Disney+, presumably one episode per week.
