Star Wars’ latest live-action project, Skeleton Crew, follows the success of Ahsoka and the mixed reception of The Acolyte. The first two episodes premiered on December 2, 2024, with new episodes releasing weekly.

While early reviews and fan reactions have been mostly positive, with high ratings from both critics and audiences, the viewership numbers haven’t matched the buzz. According to Variety, Skeleton Crew didn’t make the top ten streaming list in its first week, which is a bit disappointing.

However, there may be another perspective to consider, as the numbers might not be as bad as they first appear.

Before we dive into our analysis, here are the viewership numbers for the current week that we’re looking at:

As you can see, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is not in the top ten, which might worry some fans, especially since the controversial The Acolyte made it into the top ten in its first week with 210 million minutes. However, there are a few important things to consider.

First, the numbers are based on data collected up until December 5, 2024, meaning it only includes the first three days of Skeleton Crew‘s release (since it premiered on December 2). This data is incomplete, and it’s possible that the series reached higher numbers by the end of its first full week.

Second, while we don’t know the exact number of minutes Skeleton Crew accumulated, it’s clear that it’s less than 332 million minutes. It’s also possible that Skeleton Crew surpassed The Acolyte‘s 210 million minutes, especially given the strong competition this week. Based on these numbers, The Acolyte wouldn’t have made the top ten either, as shown.

The reactions to the series have been mostly positive, and it’s possible that Skeleton Crew is just starting to gain momentum, with a noticeable improvement in the coming weeks. Be sure to stay tuned for all the latest updates!
